Timberland Earthkeepers City 6-Inch Boot

29 March 2011, 02.00 | Posted in Shoes | No comments »

Timberland Earthkeepers City 6-Inch Boot

The Timberland Boot Company Earthkeepers collection consists of fabrication and materials that are sensitive to the environment. By grading each shoe’s manufacturing with a point system, the company can monitor its hit on the environment. The higher the grade the more of a hit. The “City 6-Inch Boot” is made of “premium burnished leather uppers, moisture-wicking linings and 100% organic cotton laces.” The slim silhouette of the boot looks to be a classic boot that might be mistaken for many of the big U.S.A. made shoe companies of today. A great shoe for city with the earth in mind. Available at Timberland.

Timberland and Wallpaper* team with designer Martine Rose for an intelligent fusion of classic tailoring and sportswear influence. Rose combines Timberland’s ultra light mini ripstop with a high-tech nail-head micro canvas. The resulting jacket is the first piece from a collaboration that will continually pioneer new and original concepts whilst referencing the past.

Timberland Fall 2011 6inch Premium Boot

selectism - Timberland Fall 2011 6inch Premium Boot

The notion of paying tribute to a fallen legend on a product blog is plagued with difficulty, so we’ll just say March 9 seems an appropriate day to highlight a New York street icon.

While the above 6inch boot may seem the same as Timberland’s been pumping out since 1973, there is more to it than meets the eye. This fall, Timberland will introduce anti-fatigue comfort technology in each of the brand’s classic silhouettes. The 6inch is clearly the greatest and for good reason kicks off an awareness campaign that finds heritage meeting innovation. Without changing the silhouette, they’ve endeavoured to make the boot more comfortable – with better forefoot flex and more absorbent footbed.

Timberland’s calling it “an icon, remastered.”

Special thanks to Marcus Troy for sharing these photographs.

First Look | Martine Rose for Timberland ‘Stratham’ Bomber Jacket

We reported on Martine Rose’s upcoming collaboration with Timberland a while back, but here’s a look at the jacket itself. It’s pretty much what we expected (that’s a good thing) with Martine putting her signature touches on this Timberland piece. It was all organised with the help of Wallpaper, who’ve been following the collaboration since its inception. It’s also a nice sporty alternative to the varsity, which has gone from ‘nice piece’ to ‘played out’ in record time.

Take a leap to see some close up looks at the jacket.

(capsule) NY | Abington Spring 2011

selectism - (capsule) NY | Abington Spring 2011

For Spring 2011 the Abington Collection by Timberland adds a few new silhouettes to the growing line. Included is the above Moccasin, which has 3 options – one suede and two glove leather. A 7-Eyelet Moc Boot reverses that material ratio, and suede is again the primary on the new Brogue Oxford. Finally, the Lightweight Guide Boot comes in oiled canvas and offers a “rugged” twist on the typical sneaker chukka.

Timberland for Saks Fifth Avenue Boat Shoe

selectism - Timberland for Saks Fifth Avenue | Boat Shoe

Spring has just started to filter into the air, and with it a change of footwear is inevitable. Our (or mostly mine) love for boat shoes doesn’t waver in winter, but it certainly blooms in full come summer.

Timberland’s association with Saks Fifth Avenue began last fall with a colorful handsewn collection. The color and the technique remain as the relationship progresses, but this time the Timberland and Saks co-branded footwear falls on a boat shoe. They will go for $120 and come in colors like green, purple, orange, and navy.

No surprise here – they are available exclusively at Saks retail locations.

Timberland for Opening Ceremony Moccasin Boot

selectism - timberland-moccasin-boot-01

Opening Ceremony have been going hard on the workwear front this season, much to some peeps chagrin. The main knock against OC is that they’re just trend hopping hipsters. True or not, while they’re ordering in boots like these, we really couldn’t care about OC’s intentions.

Like most collaborations these days, this is actually a custom order of an existing model (which we featured back in July) as opposed to a true collaboration – although that term is becoming more diluted by the day. Bitching aside, these are great boots; perfect for adverse weather and much slimmer than the 6 inch boot – which makes it an easier job to fit with some tapered denim/cords/chinos. Detailed shots after that leap.

Opening Ceremony for Timberland Boots

Selectism - Opening Ceremony for Timberland Boots

They have dropped. Opening Ceremony keeps rolling with the collaborations – this time we get some work with Timberland. Two models get the work through and are available now as part of a two day special pre-order. “For this limited capsule collection, we customized two different signature Timberland styles. The first is a spin on Timberland’s familiar 6-Inch Boot featuring an unexpected and sporty elastic lacing. These Convenience Boots come with two sets of interchangeable laces: one version matching the boot, and a second neon version.”
