We’re always up for a trench coat, especially when it’s made by the world’s most handsome department store, Liberty. If we were more fashion magaziney we’d say we like the sleek, clean minimalism of this jacket. As we’re not we’ll say we like the raglan sleeves and the fact that you’ll look like an nu-school version of Peter Sellers in it. (Liberty)

A new trench from the Thom Brown Spring/Summer 2011 collection. “This double breasted, unstructured trench coat – seen here in grey – has oversized pearlised buttons, a thick waist tie and is lined with the signature Thom Browne stripe. The trench is boxy and has a single back vent, a white contrast collar and buttoned epaulets.” Big fan of this one. Oki-ni has them.

So Burberry have bucked trends and put their coats online (for a limited time only, they’ll disappear on the 23rd). We know, we know – the democratisation of fashion and all that. While we think any democratisation talk is nonsense (it’s not democratic if most people can’t afford it) it does say someone about the increased speed of fashion. That aside, doesn’t it look good? As you can probably tell, this season we’re all about bright outerwear. While we enjoying being near monotone in our colour palette, all those light blues – be it chambray, denim or otherwise – need a little lift sometimes. And a coat is an easy quick fix to this problem. You can be as dull as you like in your outfit, but as long as you’ve got a coat like this you’ll be a bawse #norickross. (Oki-Ni)

In celebration of 25 years of London Fashion Week, Burberry has teamed with Liberty of London for two limited edition trenches for men and women. The black men’s model takes the foundation of the trench established by re-interpreting it “to reflect the mood and direction of the moment, whilst retaining the integrity of its design and function.” Each trench coat is individually numbered in an edition of 25 and will go on sale September 18th.
