Highsnobiety tips us off to the new pre-Spring 2012 collection from France’s A.P.C. collection. “A nice bridge in between the Winter and Summer seasons, they offer a solid range of easy to wear goods. Included in the capsule collection are slip-on shoes, mid top boots, a solid bomber jacket, some nice knitwear, shirting, t-shirts, sweatshirts, bags and belts, and of course some nice denim.” “Work them.”

Rake Flannel Trousers

Selectism - rake-flannel-trousers-01

Yeah yeah, these are work trousers. We can’t be dipped out in Balmain every day, no matter how much we’d like to. Furthermore, if you go all out fashion you quickly find out that you have nothing to wear when a serious event happens. And, no matter what anyone says, turning up to a wedding in a floral shirt and electric yellow soled shoes isn’t a good look. So flannel it up in these Rake trousers instead. They’re slightly more office ready than Balmain’s offerings. Slightly. (Matches)

Ami Slim Fit Wool Trousers

Selectism - ami-wool-trousers

You’ve probably heard about Ami, they’re the new French brand that’s trying to out-APC APC. There’s been accusations that APC have been slipping lately, so it is the best time to Marlo Stansfield your way into the game – especially if you’re also French and can give an interview without sounding pissed off at the world. It also helps if you can do a good staple, something Ami do very well. (Mr Porter)

PROJECT LV | Publish Spring 2012

publish spring 2012 preview-01

For Spring 2012, Publish offers bright floral prints, tailored jogger pants, and wool/cotton shorts. All garments are indicative of a refinement of brand aesthetic, with Publish continuing to build on a desire to re-invent military pieces with a jazz influence. Expansion of materials used also lends to the growth of the line – aside from oxfords and wools, they are also employing some Cordura in rugged pants.

Tender Bias Cut Trews

Selectism - tender-type-133-trews-01

We like Tender. We like Orange trousers (odd thing to like, but it’s true). We like straight leg trousers (they’re a nice antidote to all the slim fit ones in our wardrobe). So us liking these Tender orange straight leg trews was as obvious as, errrmmm, something really obvious. Sorry, it’s early and the bad joke machine in our brains hasn’t quite kicked in yet. Nitty Gritty Off-White Trousers

Selectism - nitty-gritty-trousers-01

Did we ever say RIP to the word crispy? We should’ve done. Because (a) that was a really silly phrase and (b) it would’ve been the perfect word to describe these trousers. So, in absence of the C word, we’ll have to make do with its replacement, steezy. It just doesn’t sound the same. (Nitty Gritty)

Unity Speckled Trousers

Selectism - unity-speckled-trousers-01

We’re not sure when it happened but we’ve found an affection for light coloured trousers. Not necessarily baby blue hues (although we do like those also) but moreso the cream coloured jawnz* – like these Unity trousers. We’re also big fans of brands named after Rick James songs. (Note that we have no idea if they were actually named after a Rick James song. T’was a joke). [Opening Ceremony]

Camo Vento Trousers

Selectism - camo-vento-trousers-01

Is everyone ready for pleated trousers? Because they’re not going anywhere. We’ve heard the warning horns about them for eons, but despite that (or because of them) designers keep working on versions that look good. These ones are by Camo and they have us reconsidering our aversion to the high waisted trouser. We have Simon Cowell to thank for our reticence on that issue. (ASOS)
