Workers M-1951 Modified Trousers

Selectism - Workers M-1951 Modified Trousers

The minds behind Workers in Japan are obsessed with pure replication (down to the stitch) of quality garments from a time past. Their latest is a take on the M51 spec, MIL-T-2060A “shell, field” trouser with some slight modifications around the hem and the length of these work pants. They’re made from 9 ounce cotton and are available for order outside of Japan. Simply email them from the Workers’ website for more information.

Oliver Spencer Fishtail Trousers

So here’s the problem. We like trousers, but most versions are so lightweight and slim fit that you can see a visible outline of our thighs whilst we walk. It’s not a pretty sight. The solution is get some weightier trousers – they cope far better in poor weather and they won’t look like you’re exposing yourself. Oliver Spencer’s fishtail trousers do the job great and they even come unfinished, so you can hem them to your satisfaction. You could even leave them unhemmed and roll them up – although we wouldn’t recommend that. (Oliver Spencer)

Take a look at detailed shots after that leap.

Alexander McQueen Flannel Trousers

selectism - alexander-mcqueen-flannel-trousers

If there’s one thing the team at SL could have more of, it’s trousers. With denim and chinos gathering all our attention, plain old trousers have been lost in the mix. The one thing we wanted for our trousers was heft. Our denim weighs a ton, so we like our trousers the same way. These Alexander McQueen trousers fit the bill. Like most McQueen pieces, you’ll need a few extra coins in the pocket to afford them – but that shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. (Browns)

journal standard check trousers Journal Standard Check/Gingham trousers

These Journal Standard trousers are a perfect example of what we’d like to see more of this season. They’ve taken notice of a growing trend (rolling up) and have used it in their design, mixing a small check pattern on the outside of the trouser with a bigger gingham print on the inside, giving it a great look when rolled. Get your proxy on at Style Cruise.

Check after the jump for detailed pictures.

Real Real Genuine Spring 2009 | Denim, Trousers and Shirts

rrg spring denim front Real Real Genuine Spring 2009 | Denim, Trousers and Shirts

Spring 2009 sees Real Real Genuine continuing to develop core strengths. This, of course, is in denim. A new cut has been introduced finding medium ground between RRG’s classic loose and straight leg. The mid-cut comes in raw and aged finish. Complementing the denim are two new trouser offerings, a selvedge twill (the Cornell) and the Kirtlington, a slim fit wool pant – work pants for the outdoors and the office. Back to the denim, new shirting selections include a selvedge denim western shirt, as well as a very sharp polo (Jasper). A few more of RRG’s excellent tees have also been added. Brilliant “Great British Denim” all round.

Check out all trousers and shirts after the jump.

Outlier Wool Lotus Trouser and Cap | Plus, a Conversation with Outlier

Loving cycling and looking good as we do (and, of course, people who’ve seen us can argue our success in either), one of the brands that has really caught our attention is Outlier. Making “Tailored Performance” Pants in New York City, the company balances the needs of the office with that of the road. There’s ample true style thrown in, so the bar isn’t far off the mark either.

Today, Outlier has released two new items, the Wool Lotus Trouser and Cap. Wool just happens to be a traditional cycling fabric (and dress pant fabric to boot), and Outlier have supplied the performance portion in the form of a Lotus treatment that keeps them dirt and water resistant. The cap is lined in a cotton and poly and produced by Victor Osborn.

In celebration of these new items and to learn more about Outlier, we caught up with Tyler and Abe the guys behind “Tailored Performance.” Head to the jump to read it and view further details of the new products.

Selectism - A Fine Tooth

A fine tooth is a menswear salon which offers up vintage pieces. Worn by the likes of Devendra Barnhart, OK Go and Of Montreal, Owner James Kessler has built up an enviable client list. But the main selling point of this shop is their made-to-measure trousers or ‘dandy pants’ as they like to call them.

By eschewing sizes, instead going by nine different body types, A Fine Tooth make trousers that they guarantee will fit.  Try it out for yourself at the Fine Tooth website.
