"Tumi is expanding its diffusion line, T-Tech, with the launch of an outerwear collection and a redesigned bag line for fall…The travel lifestyle brand will continue to reposition itself as a player in the luxury market with the debut of T-Tech Outerwear by Tumi at The Collective this week alongside the revamped T-Tech Adventure luggage collection. Luxist reports in with a look into fall collections from luggage company Tumi, which has been spearheaded by Nautica founder Davd Chu. “David Chu is continuing the revitalization of the travel brand begun when he was named its creative director last year. Since his appointment, Chu has launched various new collections including the Alpha, using Tumi’s signature black ballistic nylon, and the upscale Townhouse Collection for men…which featured khaki cotton twill and saddle leather. The Fall collection is rendered in a gray covert cloth that’s a hallmark of classic British tailoring.” Expect lines specific to women to also evolve.

DNR is reporting that luggage maker Tumi is opening new doors on Wall Street. “The upscale luggage and accessories maker will open the doors today to its newest store at 67 Wall Street as part of an effort to raise the brand’s visibility within the financial services community…The 1,100-square-foot-space reflects the new upscale boutique concept created by Tumi’s chief creative officer, David Chu, who was brought on board last year to help reposition the brand as a larger and more fashionable player in the luxury market.”
Men.Style previews the Tumi Alpha BFAD Bag. “Just in time for Earth Day, Matthew freakin’ Modine has teamed up with Tumi on a new bike bag, created to benefit his Bicycle for a Day organization. And while it’s no Mulberry Bob Bag, the reasonably stylish navy messenger is made from recycled material, and (for serious commuters) includes two tiny strips of reflective tape.”

We could not have said it better, even though it looks more like a shopping bag to us than a weekender. In terms of functionality and design, Tumi is definitely at the fore front of the luggage market. Thus we would love to see more high profile designers getting involved.
