John Boultbee Elder Street MK1 Jackets from Brooks England for 2012

john boultbee brooks jackets 2012 06 John Boultbee Elder Street MK1 Jackets from Brooks England for 2012

Cycling fans will want to spend some time exploring this gallery. Brooks England gives us a preview of the 2012 edition to the John Boultbee collection of cycling jackets with the introduction of the Elder Street MK1. It is a beautiful mix of old and new tech.

The casual Elder Street blazer is made from Fox Brothers tweed (a Savile Row textile supplier for some time) which has been specially treated to make the fabric water repellant, but the true story lies in the small details: shaped sleeves cut for cycling, an angle storm welt back pocket, a reflective Boultbee strap on the underside, 6mm topstitching…

The John Boultbee Elder Street is meant to look incredible on and off the bicycle while being built tough to work under any environment you are able to safely cycle or walk in. Timothy Everest designed.

Epaulet “Daltrey” Harris Tweed Sportcoat

08 December 2011, 15.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

epaulet tweed jkt 01 Epaulet Daltrey Harris Tweed Sportcoat

Epaulet bring us another ‘Mash-up’ item. This time they’ve taken Harris Tweed in three varieties; navy marl, oatmeal herringbone and gray-green basket-weave. Woven in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides, this traditional fabric starts its life as 100% virgin wool.

Epaulet have created a traditional half-canvassed blazer (the canvas giving added structure to the jacket) featuring what they describe as ‘a natural shoulder’. Features include double rear vents, slim lapels, royal purple lining, goat suede elbow patches and goat suede undercollar. The real selling point is the patchwork of tweeds, rather than making this ‘wacky’ it actually just adds a bit of interest to a classic American sportcoat.

Woolrich John Rich & Bros. – Pre Autumn/Winter 2012

Woolrich John Rich & Bros - Pre Autumn/Winter 2012

The Woolrich John Rich & Bros. collection gives us a mighty jump on their forthcoming pre-Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. Talk about being early to market – we don’t mind. The “Makes and Tradesmen” collection is a reference to the “makers,” like John Rich himself, who opened the door in Pennsylvania to manufacturing. “Tradesmen” thanks those in careers like carpentry, shoemaking, tailoring that kept the men properly clothed. Fans fo the John Rich & Bros. collection will find further re-boots of classic forms including conductor vests and chore jackets that use “a strong fall palette of muted colors mixed with tweed, suede, canvas and twill.” Fabrication is the game here from Woolrich John Rich & Bros for Autumn 2011.

Bespoken Brown Tweed Jacket

Selectism - bespoken-tweed-coat-01

This isn’t new by any stretch of the word, but it’s too good to pass up. A good tweed overcoat is always a good addition to the wardrobe – some might use the S word – so when one’s available for a knock down price, we have to alert the troops. And yes, we’re now referring to readers as troops, get used to it. (Bespoke Boutique)

Kolor Tweed Shawl Neck Jacket

selectism - kolor-tweed-jacket-01

Like everyone else in fashion (or ’style’ if you like to think you’re above fashion) we’ve fallen for tweed. And while we love it in a blazer, it’s nice to see someone attempting something different with it. Kolor have taken up that challenge, making a shawl neck bomber jacket using the material. It’s not something you’d see everyday, which is what makes it such a great piece. It’s available from Museum Arks right now, but we’d advise holding off until the likes of Opening Ceremony and Browns get their orders in. (Musuem Ark)

Take a look after the leap for detailed shots.

Beauty & Youth Tweed Jacket

19 September 2009, 18.30 | Posted in Fashion | 2 comments »

Selectism - Beauty & Youth Tweed Jacket

A slimming tweed jacket from Japan’s Beauty & Youth. There is a certain nostalgia in this classic heritage piece. Taking the best bits from older durable Tweed jackets, Beauty & Youth complements the past with their take on this field coat. The cuff closure collar and wrists are a positive as well as the well sized front pockets – larger enough to carry your ammo or a couple of sandwiches for a stroll in the woods. (zozo)
