London Undercover for Tenue de Nîmes Indigo Rain Umbrella

London Undercover for Tenue de Nîmes Indigo Rain Umbrella

Amsterdam’s Tenue de Nîmes works over an indigo umbrella with London Undercover. “This striking accessory represents both brands perfectly: combining an established classic with a modern touch. The umbrella itself is made with an industrial strength traditional frame of natural beech woodwork which guides your eye to beautifully detailed artwork on the inside, made by Japanese illustrator Hiyoko Imai. The cotton flower illustration not only tells a story about denim, but also echoes the decorative nature of ancient parasols.” Available now.

Hide under them at the starting line or the finish. “Originally created for the pit crew of the Rapha-Focus cross team in the US, this lightweight umbrella features the team’s distinctive multi-coloured livery and Rapha Focus logos…The umbrella is lightweight, has an ergnomic handle for comfort, tube with carbon finish and the canopy closes with a velcro fastener.”

Senz Umbrellas By Mina Perhonen

senzumbrellas selectism 2 Senz Umbrellas By Mina Perhonen

The last time we covered Senz umbrellas on Selectism was back in 2008. I think it is time to say hello again. “There are many inadequacies in umbrellas – easy to flip by strong wind, not user friendly enough, cover the user’s front view, potentially health and safety issue… three Dutch students decided to redefine umbrella design and founded Umbrella. The most outstanding feature of SENZ is its ability to function perfectly in 100mph wind. Its secret lies in its ‘short front, long back’ silhouette, which balances well in the wind, as opposed to being caught in the thick of it. The short film on the SENZ website is a convincing demonstration, showing the design is fully functional even on a bike!” (tsilly)

Selectism - London Undercover "Classic Line" Umbrellas

Some classic takes on umbrellas from the London Undercover operation. “With the celebration of British Culture at the core, London Undercover brings to life what is generally seen as a boring, disposable, last-minute item. An obvious canvas for expression, the designs aim to encourage people to enjoy and take pride in what is, an indispensable, quintessentially British accessory.”

Selectism - Swims Self-Opening Umbrellas

When it comes to the umbrella market, the tech does the talking, unless the product is worked to provide something unique on the design side. These Swims self-opening umbrellas offer the latter with a collection of colored handles to complement your briefcase, bag, or shoes. The self -opening aspect is a technical one, but we prefer the look of the handles. (oki-ni)

Selectism - Paul Smith Union Jack Umbrella

My goodness. Today is the day for British inspired goods. If we’re covering raincoats during these cold months, then we might as well hit some umbrellas. Paul Smith is a favorite of course. This Union Jack inspired umbrella works well with a wooden handle embossed with the Paul Smith name. Black exterior covering up the clearly visible and familiar Jack interior. Simple and elegant. We covered the Quinny by Henrik Vibskov collection a while back but wanted to bring attention back to the “Mad Print” umbrella. It has a crazy bold pattern on it which stand out amongst the boring old black variety. It will set you back a few bucks though, but at least you’ll be unique. Available now from V Store.
