UNIQLO to Open Third New York City Store

Things must be going better for UNIQLO this time around. The Japanese basics (and beyond) retailer has announced a third store to open this Autumn, in line with their second shop opening on Madison Ave. “The 34th Street store is set to open late in the fall of 2011, following the opening of the largest UNIQLO Global Flagship in the world on New York’s prestigious Fifth Avenue in early fall 2011. These stores will join the current UNIQLO location in Manhattan’s Soho district.”

Uniqlo Linen Shirt

Selectism - uniqlo-linen-shirt-01

We often get the ‘pricey’ tag thrown at us here on SL (although a large majority of the stuff we have is affordable if you buy less but better). So to counter that here’s some Uniqlo steez we can all get behind – unless you’re incredibly tight, in which case we’re amazed you’re here. (Uniqlo)

Full Look | Uniqlo +J Spring/Summer 2011 Collection

Our brothers on Highsnob take a full look at the Spring/Summer 2011 from UNIQLO’s +J collection. “Today we get a first full look at the new Uniqlo +J Spring/Summer 2011 Collection, once again designed by Jil Sander. The line gets much more technical than in previous seasons and we especially like the outerwear offering. Of course you also get a nice choice of well cut shirts, knitwear, pants and some accessories. Next to the usual black, white and mud tones, you will also find some color accents in this new collection, which hits stores January 26th.”

Uniqlo Lambswool Jumper

Selectism - uniqlo-lambswool-jumper

Consider this a cheat piece for the wardrobe. Although Uniqlo don’t like promoting them, their lambswool jumpers are a permanent standout for us. On a budget? Add about three of these to your crewneck rotation. (Uniqlo)

Uniqlo Corduroy Shirt

Selectism - uniqlo-corduroy-shirt-01

Uniqlo’s cord shirts have dropped for this season and they’ve added a couple of good looking new colourways to the fold. This light blue colour will slot in nicely for all your folks with a chambray shirt or two (i.e. every man interested in clothes). And the £14.99 pricetag is not to be sniffed at, stock up on these and splurge elsewhere. (Uniqlo)

Uniqlo +J Wool Flannel Trousers

So the +J collection just ‘dropped’ (we’re not street enough to use that word without quotations) and here’s an early pick. We say early pick because there’s at least 6 or 7 blog worthy pieces in this collection, so you’ll be seeing more of this collection as the week’s go on. Anyone’s who’s been looking for a pair of trousers should look no further, because this flannel pair come in grey and navy, lack any silly embellishments and generally just look good. It’s that simple sometimes. (Uniqlo)

+J Heather Crew Neck T-Shirt

selectism - +J-heather-t-shirt-01

We’ve been bingeing on t-shirts as much as trainers lately, but what can we say? It’s still summer dagnammit. We’re still on a search for the perfect tee and, in the words of Mobb Deep, there’s a war going on outside no man is safe from. We’re backing the crew necks ourselves, so this piece from the +J collection is worth pulling the trigger for. While the heather colour is great, it’s probably best to stay away if you’re prone to sweating a fair bit. It’s fair to say that sweat patches will never be ‘in’. (Uniqlo)

Uniqlo +J Purple Windbreaker

Selectism - uniqlo-+J-purple-windbreaker

We thought we’d  celebrate the good news that Jill Sander will design for Uniqlo indefinitely by showing off this windbreaker jacket. Lightweight and packable, it’s one to keep in your bag for a rainy day. There’s a few colourways but this purple one ticks all our sartorial boxes. And, to top it all off, it only costs £50. UNIQLO To Open Second NYC Store on Fifth Avenue

Selectism - UNIQLO To Open Second NYC Store on Fifth Avenue

It’s clear that UNIQLO is happy with how the NYC market is reacting to their well priced lined. Their Broadway store (which was their second run at bringing the line to the United States) is never short of busy. Stroll through the doors and you’ll find traffic thick. Something IS working. Now, we’re hearing word that the line is opening up a second New York City location on Fifth Avenue. While their building number may be the sign of the devil, we’re sure that shop will be as overrun.
