Our friends at Valet sat down with J.Crew’s Frank Muytjens for a nice conversation. “Last year, when Frank Muytjens was appointed as J.Crew’s Vice President of Men’s Design, the company was on the cusp of a cultural change. They had been updating their men’s line, improving quality and style but were hoping to elevate the brand during this renaissance of American menswear.”

Our friends at Valet have a feature on man’s favorite of facial weapons – the razor. “The average American male will shave his face more than 14,000 times in his life…But shaving needn’t be drudgery. The lads at Valet spoke for a few moments with John Varvatos on his newly launched satellite radio program. “We talked with John Varvatos for a quick preview of his new satellite radio show, “Born in Detroit,” which is launching tomorrow from his CBGB boutique with a live performance by the New York Dolls.” With more and more designers finding new outlets to help brand their work, Varvatos on Radio is a clear extension on the work done in the former CBGB space.

Our friends at Valet commissioned fashion illustrator and “What I Saw Today” blogger, Richard Haines, to sketch their top ten Spring looks. Focusing in on ten designers, the illustrations work well to convey the looks and fashions. Well done, Valet.

Our friends a Valet Mag offer a nice guide to the ins and outs of laundering your wears. Unexpectedly, we did learn a thing or two about how many wears we go without on socks and dress shirts. “How long can your clothes go between washing? In these eco-friendly (and economically tough) times, you don’t want to use all that water and electricity on something that’s still relatively clean. We all need a place to hang our hats. And, our coats. The valet, a common occurrence at hotels and not so commonly applied in the home, is one answer. Traditionally, these are a form follows function affair. They serve their purpose without becoming a talking point.

Thierry Bataille’s design, on the contrary, is infused with humor and anthropomorphic fun. His valet’s can be men, or women, or kids of determined age. The Belgian’s work is eco-friendly, comes in (as mentioned) four sizes, and for the truly vein includes and attachable mirror.
