Passarella Death Squad Varsity Jacket

Selectism - passarella-death-squad-varsity-jacket

Here’s one for the all black everything gang. Passarella recently made their first ready-to-wear collection and here’s our pick of the bunch. Sleek, dark and minimal are all adjectives that we feel we should be using when describing this piece. Our favourite detail on this piece however – not that you can see it in this picture – is the zipped cuffs, which gives it just enough of a unique feel to separate it from the hundreds of varsities available right now. Oh, and the sleeves are a buttery soft Japanese drum dyed leather, which is a big plus for any varsity.  Available only at Selfridges (on the mens contemporary floor).

Mihara Yasuhiro Varsity Jacket

Here’s part 373464 of our ongoing ‘it’s cool because it’s from Japan’ series. Mihara Yasuhiro is responsible for some of the crazier designs seen on this here site, but he also knows his way around a good varsity jacket (we featured one a while back, but this is an updated version). Shawl collar addicts that we are, we quite like them on our jackets as well as our knitwear. But the most important thing is that it’s from Japan and hard to find -  which makes it cool. (Mindtrive)

Head Porter Plus Varsity Jacket

Here’s another of those brands that are usually over at our big brother site, but to us a good varsity is a good varsity. And this Head Porter Plus jacket is just that (and by that, we mean a good varsity, if you haven’t read that phrase enough already). Getting dudes into colours that aren’t grey or blue is always a challenge, but we think this shade of red is wearable enough. And there is a blue version if you can’t stand the thought of wearing colour. (Tres Bien)

Take a leap to see more shots.

Pendleton for Opening Ceremony Varsity Jacket

Selectism - opening-ceremony-pendleton-varsity-jacket-01

It might have something to do with our scruffier big brother site being so into streetwear and all, but we’ve always had a soft spot for good varsity jacket. Pendleton patterns can be a little loud sometimes, especially when they’re shoehorned into the design without thought of how it’d affect the overall piece. But this pattern meshes well with the grey arms and navy trim, avoiding that unfortunate ‘cut up a blanket from the 80’s and wore it’ effect that previous Pendleton collabs had. (End)

Journal Standard Check Varsity Jacket

selectism - journal-standard-varsity-jacket-01

Check patterns are everywhere. That much is fact. So it’s always a pleasure to find them used in interesting and unique ways – like on this varsity jacket. Leather arm aficionados (a niche group if ever there was one) won’t be into the wool arms, but they’ll definitely keep you toasty during the winter months. Add in the high collar and you’ve practically got a scarf – so you won’t need one of those gawd forsaken snoods everyone’s writing about. Get your proxy on. (Style Cruise)

More pics are after that leap.
