If you like your laptop bag on the more casual side, Veja offer some interesting takes on the cotton carrier. The Acacia doesn’t make it massively obvious that you’re carrying around an expensive piece of kit but is built and padded to contain and protect precious cargo. We’ve featured them before in various fabrics and tones but these block colours are possibly our favourites. Veja meet French Trotters once again with a selection of men’s footwear. We previewed the collection a while back and this addition of a black hi-top is a welcome one. Veja don’t bang on too much about their eco credentials but it’s worth noting that each pair is made with the environment and the workers who produce them in mind. “The leather used has been tanned naturally using acacia extracts. The soles are made of wild rubber originating from the Amazonian rainforest. ” Take a look below for a little background into this time heavy process. Veja continue to do good things with accessories. This simple ‘Cabas’ tote is a favourite. Here in red and also available in tan, a piece made in collaboration with designer Regina Dabdab, it also comes with a handy removable wallet. The collection includes smaller wallets, credit card holders and coin purses in a range of earth tones with everything kept minimal and unfussy.

Veja explain; “The capsule collection introduces ‘Soleta’, a new premium leather which is waxed and polished revealing a mottled finish. All leather used in Veja’s bags and accessories is ecologically tanned. Contrary to most leathers that are processed with heavy metals, it is chrome-free tanned, using acacia tree extract. This helps to reduce
water pollution.”

A rather smart pair of sneakers/hi-tops/trainers from Veja’s Indigenous collection. We wanted to avoid calling them smart casual but that’s pretty much a spot on description. The camel colour is what sold us on these, making them feel more like a pair of suede shoes then something you’d exercise in. French Truckers give us the lo-down. Veja’s products are 100% organic…

Frenchtrotters gets busy with Veja on a strong collection of sneakers, coming this Fall 2011. The collection features naturally tanned leather and soles made from “wild” Amazonian rubber. Three colorways will br made available: camel, navy and white. END, Oki-ni, Kapok and many others will be stocking it.

Call it our endless need to buy more improve our wardrobe but we’ve been keeping an eye for new spring footwear options lately. While we like all the options already available, trying something new never hurt anybody. And, lest we forget, the classics were all new at one point or another. Anyhoo, we like the look of these ‘mediterranee’ trainers. They come in 4 colour variations, cost £45 and are as ethically minded as the rest of the Veja footwear clan.

Veja teamed with French Trotters to create a few exclusives and, as luck would have it, they’re pretty gosh darn cool. They’ve taken off the V logo on the side and added a heel strip, making it look just that little bit cleaner than the regular Vejas. The latest from the Veja Acacia bag line. Full and suede versions of the Acacia bag are fashioned for Autumn 2011. The deep green and brown versions looks promising. As usual, the  leather is tanned with acacia extracts keeping the Veja story all natural.

Veja introduces a fresh and simple line of laptop sleeves made from sustainable canvas straight from Brasil. “The lining and canvas are made from organic cotton grown by a co-operative of producers in the Northeast of Brazil. The cotton is grown in the agro- ecology method which bans the use of chemicals and pesticides.” Eco-friendly is a positive for 2011. Step up.
