The Autumn/Winter 2012 collection from Velour has a distinct things-dad-grabbed-from-the-thrift-rack feel to it, thanks in particular to some random looking baseball graphics on sweatshirts pulled over collared shirts. There is also a baggy greenish sweater to that end and then a suede jacket/light demin ensemble that feels like a clammy handshake from an art dealer in Santa Fe.

An evocative set to be sure, but aside from the sublimated oddities there are some nifty blazers and a singular windbreaker with quilted panels that could be a lot of fun. So while we’re not totally sure what Velour is up to here, we are definitely intrigued.

Velour delivers us a preview of their Autumn Winter 2012 boot with the Clarks Originals collection. The boot goes well beyond the usual colorway plays. Patchwork and woven leathers are contrasted with oily nubucks and deep browns and greens – all of which pull from Velour’s Scandinavian roots. Delivers in stores around August 2012. Velour have sent over images of their Spring/Summer 2012 collection and, what do you know, it’s a doozy. We remember the ol’ days when we’d have to search high and low for some Velour but thankfully those days are over. The issue now is getting our size before everyone else pulls the trigger. We know, poor us. We’re basically the living reincarnation the Jay-Z’s verse from ‘This can’t be life’. At least we can look at it early and start plotting on what to get when it arrives in stores. We might even have to camp outside for one or two items.

We know what Velour’s about – the chino, the duffle, the parka – but they do it so well that every new collection is worth a look. Anyway, enough rambling from us, take a look for yourselves.

Who says skinny is over? Screw that. These solid chinos from Velour in grey will work well all summer. No need for the pastels. Stick with the neutrals. Then again, it is a heavyweight twill… maybe too warm for the real heat of August. Great-Divide has them.

Yes, it’s more patchwork. This pattern isn’t as obtrusive as most patterns we put up, so some of our more classically styled readers shouldn’t be too put off. In fact, if you put a crewneck over this, there’s a high probability that most folks wouldn’t even see the pattern. It’s basically patchwork for folks who don’t like patchwork. (Tenue De Nimes)

Another day, another first look. This one’s from Velour, a brand we’ve always had a soft spot for. Given our tendency to show the crazy side of fashion, sometimes it’s nice to show something that’s easy, wearable and affordable. All cliches aside, there’s something for everyone in this preview. They even make wearing a three button blazer with all the buttons done up look acceptable.

We’ve always got room for some coloured chinos in our life, they’re of great help when one wants to look suitably snazzy (we’re not giving up on bringing this word back). These ones are by Velour and, although we’re not sure what colour they are, we are sure that they look good. (Opening Ceremony)
