Bread & Butter Winter 2010 kicks off tomorrow in Berlin, Germany. We’ll be live from the show floor (actually, we’ll be up the “1st Floor” area) bringing looks at the Autumn/Winter 2010 fashion offerings. But while we wait for the gates to open, here’s a look at the Penfield Vest designed for BBB. The vest features denim upper with leather patches.

Western fans will be keen on the following vests from The Joe McCoy. “Classic design of the original down vest worn by cowboys in the 60’s and 70’s. The vest is filled with goose down for the best insulation. The outer is cotton with a 6/40 lining on the inside. The highlight has to be the horse hide yolk, incredibly tough and rigid, you can feel the quality as soon as you slip it on. The buttons are embossed with McCoys and reinforced with leather rivets.” (superd)

Long title for a well done vest from Post O’Alls. This vest is well thought out and is all about the details. Check the button closure for stitch patterns that hark back to the good old days when making work wear meant making clothes that were utilitarian to the blue collars. NYC made. (context)

Lavenham drops this patchwork vest to celebrate their 40th anniversary. They dig through their fabric archive to bring forth a variety of panels made to show off the company’s heritage. Check the gun patch on the shoulder and the back vest pocket. A beautiful piece. Well done. (museumark)

A banger from Penfield and Edifice in the form of an 80/20 goose down vest. It comes available in four colorways – black, grey, grey/blue plaid and grey/red plaid. The limited vest celebrates Edifice’s 15^th anniversary.  It contains a nylon body lining, goose down insulation, 100% leather shoulder yoke, internal buffalo plaid shoulder yoke and 2 exterior insulated hand warmer pockets. Available in Japan the  grey market. Proxy?

Chicago’s own Joe McCoy brand comes through with a banger of a vest for the Autumn/Winter market. The deer skin vest is “tanned with natural vegetable tanning process and colored with aniline for the main body . Horse hide used for chest patches.” Those willing to plunge into this beauty will be sure they’re not in the same class as those North Face lovers (nothing wrong with them though). (superdenim)

The third installment of the Mister Freedom ”MFSC Naval Clothing Tailors” collection has dropped and our favorite piece is this excellent denim vest. Made from selvedge MFSC denim “301,” the vest is made from 11oz cotton and is fitted with a shawl collar, slanted chest pockets, and beautiful 13 star peacoat style buttons. Two back secret pockets are made for maps, but they’ll work well for a flask as well. Available at Self Edge.

Filson’s 20 Pocket Travel Vest is not only for the field. Hunter wore won often on and off his ranch. Now, none of us are Hunter and this vest may not work in the city too well but consider what you get for that quick jaunt up to the mountains for a trail walk. The vest itself can be worn solo but is made for zipping into you Filson shell. Made in the U.S.A. and available in green and tan.

OAK preview the coming Spring/Summer collection from Idol Radec with this Midnight Scotsman Vest. The LA based design trio re-invents the button vest in wool. Three diagonal pockets line the front of the vest with a nylon adjustment on the reverse.

Blackbird has stocked the Robert Geller Himalaya Vest. the shawl collar vest is made “from a thick, heavy felted wool” with a ribbed helm. A nice under layer for those colder than usual days. A great fit vest with a utility feel.
