The Bandanna Almanac takes a look at this impressive vest from Kapital. Based on the classic Brown’s Beach Jacket with the trimmed pockets and metal snaps, the Japanese label has of course added some unique touches of their own.

Zig-Zag stitching on the lower half, straight stitching on the top, pocket rivets, heavy cotton and a softer wool on the inside this is a sturdy piece for colder weather. Superb.

Sweden’s Caliroots present their Autumn Winter 2011 Lookbook for Rocky Mountain Featherbed. Shot by ErikbyErik across stark Stockholm landscapes, our well turned our adveturer finds himself lost amongst the rubble, old tyres and assorted trash all the while sporting RMF’s classic down vests, trimmed with leather and sheepskin. Wacko Maria, long a staple of the street scene in Tokyo, delivers a wearable leopard print vest, available now at ln-cc. “This vest is made from a leopard-print, rayon and cotton blend fabric with leather panelling across the front and back of the shoulders. The words, ‘Guilty Parties’ are embroidered across the back of the leather panel with tonal, black stitching. Check this padded vest they worked with the masters at Duvetica. “This fully reversible goose-down padded Gilet features corduroy and tweed panelling as well as the a plaid cotton inner, combining bold styling with all the warmth and protection from the elements you’d expect.” END has them.

Time for a Marty McFly moment. This superb gilet/vest/sleeveless puffa by Seattle based Crescent Down Works uses that much coveted water repellent 60/40 shell with a purple ripstop nylon lining and 100% goose down fill. They’ve kept the front simple with two flat slanted pockets. Made in the USA, also available in Navy and Olive. Hoverboard and acid wash denim not included. Bureau has it. -ld

Post o’alls know their way around a vest, the Traveler’s spot on design and utilitarian feel making it a bit of a classic. This particular example is hard to argue with, ‘quilted indigo calico fabric’ are a collection of words that just seem to work together. If you’re unfortunate enough to find yourself in the middle of a summer that refuses to make up its mind this sleeveless number might just come in handy. Bureaubelfast has them.

Another addition to their recent collaborations, Unionmade works over varsity vest with Golden Bear. The garment is made of the same material as the jacket but includes “cowhide trim at the shoulders, slash pockets and at the hanger loop.” This jacket has a snap front closure that is made with antique brass. As you all know by now, this is the last collection of Woolrich Woolen Mills designed by Daiki Suzuki. So, depending on your view of McNairy’s collection, this is either your last chance to get hold of WWM while you still like it or just another season. Either way, we like this vest. It’s still a little early to be going coatless, so lighten up the layers with a piece like this. (End)
