A look at new work by designer, Christopher Raeburn for Victorinox as seen at Bread & Butter Berlin in January 2012. The jackets look to take on the modern feel of the young menswear designer. Look for more detailed looks shortly.

One of the take homes from this past Pitti was a strong periodical from the minds behind Rolling Stone Italia.

Specially produced for the Italian reader during Pitti and Milan Fashion Week, Rolling Stone Italia’s Rock & Roll Style, Volume 1 is a well thought out men’s fashion and lifestyle publication that is of very high production. Photography and topics inside the publication remain current and tend to the needs of the Italian gentleman reading them. Inside readers will find everything from fashion tips, reviews, to detailed schematics of Brooks Saddles and Victorinox knives.

Props should be given to the staff at Rolling Stone Italy for putting this issue together. Clearly they worked overtime in bringing this special project to the market. It looks fantastic as you can see from my well read copy above.

If Rock and Roll Style featured split Italian/English text, it would give many of the men’s magazines on the market today a serious run for their money. Did we mention that it is a free publication?

Victorinox Swiss Army show us that they too are more than willing to re-imagine their iconic pocket tools for the modern consumer. Their new Swiss Army Tomo series (Japanese for ‘friend’ or ‘companion’) was designed by Kazuma Yamaguchi, who took a very minimalistic approach to the classic form by placing the toolset inside a molded rectangular handle. No compromise of the essential tools is made with the Swiss Army Tomo design; a blade, a nail file with cleaner and scissors are packed nicely into the sleek form. The Tomo is available in blue, green, pink, lemon and other colors.

There are some interesting points to mention regarding the sentry scarf from the Christopher Raeburn for Victorinox. First, they were made in the same workshop that Karl Elsener, founder of Victorinox made the first Swiss Army Knife. A total of 100 scarves were produced and most important, they are all made from remnant Swiss Army blanket materials - over-dyed to give them their distinct look. Ron Herman has them.

As Kanye didn’t say, ‘That ish Rae. burn’. We’ve featured a couple of Raeburn summer jackets before but this is the first time we’ve seen Raeburn’s Victorinox collaboration in stores. First off, what we like about this coat: the way it looks. WHat we don’t like: the price. It’s that simple. There’s more details than you can shake a detail stick at – they exist, don’t ask us where to find them – but at nearly a grand, we don’t blame anyone if it’s outside of their pay bracket. (Oki-Ni)

Dazed brings good word on a new capsule collection by Christpher Raeburn for Victorinox – with it’s very own Swiss Army Knife as well.

“In an inspired move, Swiss luxe alpine wear brand… Victorinox have hired Brit designer Christopher Raeburn to design a capsule collection for Autumn Winter 2011. Consisting of only eight pieces… the young London creative has managed to merge his forward thinking design aesthetic with the heritage and tradition of the 127 year old brand. ‘Remade in Switzerland’ is the result of Raeburn travelling to Victorinox’s home country to go through an extensive number of army surplus stores in Ibach, the birthplace of Victorinox founder Karl Elsener.”

The company is known for their product’s “precision, quality, functionality and versatility.” This season they deliver their take on the classic hooded down jacket an is offered in three colorways. The jacket is 90% goose down and 10% feather fill polyester and offers a water repellant shell with interior pockets. The jacket is available at SwissArmy.

At $2000, this is still in a range for many. Victorinox Swiss Army Airboss Mach 8 Special Edition watch is a charmer. ”The case, in stainless steel, measures 45mm. Victorinox Swiss Army continues to celebrate their 125th anniversary with a variety of jubilee products. We previewed the Infantry Vintage Watches recently, but our new favorite is this collaboration with Airstream Trailers. The “Victorinox Special Edition Airstream” is a 19 foot trailer with a production run of 125 units, much like the watch and “embodies [Victorinox and Airstream's] shared qualities and philosophies: precision, functionality, reliability and a classically elegant design”
