Better than the dope Margiela V-Man jackets that Pharrell and Mr. Michael Stipe have been rocking, is the homemade Daft Punk helmet from Casey Pugh. With rumors of another wave of Daft Punk shows coming in 2009, we can be sure to expect Daft Helmets replacing the lighter and mobile phones soon. (via kanye – what up!)
The office party is right around the corner (unless you happen to work at a firm who’s cutting the bash out of the annual fun day calendar). To ensure you look your manhood best, David Hart & Co. and Jeremy Nelson Studio present the short film “How to Tie a Bow Tie” which should ease your pain in getting it right. It ain’t easy the first time around. Grab the snuffer, sit back, and watch. (via pursuitaesthetic)
The Fresno Bee has a great video up showcasing the art of shoe repair. The focus is on Pete’s Shoe Repair, outside of Fresno in Dinuba. The video is a telling one offering the view of a trade which one man continues to peruse. Pete himself mentions that in Dinuba alone there used to be five repair shops. Today, he is the last remaining shop in town. A great look into the workmanship of shoe repair.
“A 45 minute piece showcasing Bblessing’s Fall/Winter 2008 line. Shown live in NYC … No effects were used in this entire piece, save for one gaussian blur.”
Robust Flavor shares this great walk-thru video showing the assembly line process of building an Eames Shell Chair. “In 1948, Charles and Ray Eames submitted the shell chair to the International Competition for Low Cost Furniture, sponsored by the Museum of Modern Art. They originally intended to use stamped metal, but it proved to be prohibitively costly. It uses two basic seat designs, both available with multiple base options. This adds tremendously to the ability to mass-produce the chairs at a very low cost. The original material used for the seats was a fiberglass resin.”
