Visionaire, who with issue 6 created what could well be the largest magazine ever made, take it down a little with a exhibit of the world smallest book – and it looks pretty  damn small. The image above shows the “novel,” a spec of black in this press shot. I am really curious to see what the hell is inside. Style.com gets word on what to expect from Visionaire 60. “Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci has revealed exclusively to Style.com that he’s collaborated with Visionaire on its 60th issue. The topic? …religion. The designer curated the entire issue, and all of the work was specially commissioned for the project with the exception of a single never-before-published photograph by Robert Mapplethorpe. Tisci’s one stipulation to his collaborators: no Givenchy credits. Among the contributions, Karl Lagerfeld photographed Carine Roitfeld, Paolo Canevari envisioned Franca Sozzani as a saint, and Givaudan perfumer Yann Vasnier created a Religion scent.” We’re looking forward to this one.

The latest from Visionaire has been announced. “ Visionaire 59 FAIRTYTALE is a mini-library of children’s books by contemporary artists and  photographers. Ranging in themes from the delightful to the philosophical, and packaged in an old-fashion-style bookstrap, Visionaire’s newest issue offers a meditation on innocence and childlike creativity… Each book is individually-bound and hard-cover containing between 16 and 56 pages of artworks and text. Each book features a special technique: glow-in-the-dark, scratch-n-sniff, lenticular, holography, flocking, and foil-stamping.

Visionaire (aka the only magazine you genuinely can’t afford) has just released their newest issue. This time the magazine’s in the form of an electronic calendar that releases 365 commissioned artworks, one for every day in the year; and all for the price of $275. Chosen by 52 curators, the list of artists is – as you’d expect – rather exhaustive. If you’re dying to see who made the cut you can do so at their website. (MC)

For the 56th issue of their fashion and design forward publication, Visionaire has teamed with Calvin Klein to explore the world of “Solar.” What this leaves you with is a coffee table tome who’s black and white images turn to color when exposed to sunlight or UV rays, making this magazine much more interactive than your usual book. The latest issue from avant garde magazine, Visionaire, entitled “Surprise” devotes its paper to the pop-ups. The issue, done in collaboration with the House of KRUG, features intricate pop-up designs by the likes of Sophie Calle, Andreas Gursky, Nicola Formichett/Gareth Pugh, and Mario Testino. The three dimensional aspect of the pop-ups were produced by “renowned paper engineers” and comes housed in purple folio case with an engraved metal plaque. 4000 numbered copies of Visionaire 55 “Surprise” will be produced. Retail on this beautiful set is 250$US.
