Vivienne Westwood Autumn/Winter 2011

Vivienne Westwood Fall 2011

Style gives their look into the Autumn 2011 collection from Vivienne Westwood. “A Vivienne Westwood show, at least in the current era, is an opportunity for a little soapboxing and a little showboating from Dame Vivienne. Her men’s collection today provided both: a reminder about the seriousness of climate change (a warning was stamped on her invites and projected on the wall) and about the serious commitment she makes to madcap mania—sartorially speaking, at least.” Loving the bag and shoes above.

Vivienne Westwood for Chivas Regal Bottle

Vivienne Westwood for Chivas Regal Bottle

This Chivas Regal 18 year scotch bottle gets the re-work from England’s Vivienne Westwood just in time for Holiday 2010. Unlike most collaborative bottles which receive a wrap around the glass in the form of heat-on applicae or paint, Westwood does it right with a material wrap that fastened and encapsulates the full body of the bottle – badge and all.

Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania line recently teamed up with denim experts Lee for a capsule collection. The Anglomania line takes its inspiration from the Westwood archive, referencing her collections from the 70’s and 80’s whilst using some of the cuts that made her popular in the first place. There’s four styles of jeans and some denim shirts to compliment the collection, which will be released in July.

Take a leap to see the rest of the collection.

Vivienne Westwood Opens MAN Store

Selectism - Vivienne Westwood Opens MAN Store

Dazed gives a look inside the new Vivienne Westwood MAN Store in London. “A few doors down from 44 Conduit Street, the classic retail home of Vivienne Westwood, there is now a Westwood MAN store! Cue joyful screams. For far too long the male Westwood shopper has been forced to venture down the stairs to the cellar of No. 44, but with last week’s shop launch, dedicated male customers can now spread out to fully enjoy themselves. The shop – at 18 Conduit Street – have the textural qualities of stone, ‘shuttered’ concrete, rusted steel and wide oak boards as flooring. Nickel-plated rails and cabinets will provide a crisp contrast to this earthy tone.”

Selectism - Vivienne Westwood Autumn 2010

WWD gives their view of Vivienne Westwood Autumn 2010 collection. “The iconoclastic British designer’s latest unlikely fashion hero is the vagrant, who inspired a gutsy blend of artfully worn-in leather coats, layered chunky knitwear, stained denim and slouchy wool suits.”  Note the heavy denim and things to come with Westwood and future collaborations.

Vivienne Westwood Anglomania for Lee Collection

04 January 2010, 19.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

Selectism - Vivienne Westwood Anglomania for Lee Collection

We missed this one before Christmas but it is worth mentioning. WWD reported back on Dec21 that “Vivienne Westwood is set to give denim a touch of her punky aesthetic. The designer has collaborated with Lee Jeans to launch a denim collection as part of her Anglomania label, called The Vivienne Westwood Anglomania and Lee collection. The debut collection for fall [2010/11] will launch to buyers next month.”

It will indeed be interesting to see what comes from this working. It is mentioned that the styles will include, “bondage jeans and skinny jeans for men. Washes will run from indigo denim to metallic gold- and copper-colored denim…” Hell, we’re up for anything. It’s a new decade of course.

Vivienne Westwood Double Breasted Jacket

The Tom Ford effect strikes again. Huge lapels have always been a Ford staple and it looks like it’s trickled down to Vivienne Westwood’s menswear collection. Personally, we could have done with the lapels being slimmed down just a tad – but at least this way there’s a big dramatic effect when you pop your collar.

We love Vivienne Westwood’s passion for the environment and not spending too much on clothing, but when you take a look at her own prices (£559 for this jacket), her speeches are a little hard to swallow. But if you’ve got it like that, this jacket is worth it. (Farfetch)

Take a gander after the leap for a detailed look.

Vivienne Westwood to Release an Album

Selectism - Vivienne Westwood to Release an Album

We’re loving this story from NY Mag. "Hey, if musicians can make clothing lines, there’s no reason designers can’t make CDs: Vivienne Westwood will release a compilation album, Catwalk Breakdown, on September 15. British Vogue reports Westwood conceptualized, curated, and art-directed the album, giving us all a reason to go to an actual physical store where CDs are sold and buy the album, plastic case, cellophane wrapping, and all…" The CD will launch exclusively at Selfridges.

The Selling of Fake Seditionaries?

18 August 2008, 21.50 | Posted in Fashion | 1 comment »

Selectism - The Selling of Fake Seditionaries?

In what some are believing to be one of the biggest acts of fraud in the fashion world, the story of how Simon Easton (purportedly) conned and convinced museums, galleries, and collectors of the likes of Damien Hirst into purchasing fake Seditionaries clothing is only beginning to become unraveled.

First, some background from Threadtrend, "Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood had a store called SEX, a fetish clothing shop which eventually turned into Seditionaries.  This reincarnation centered on Punk lifestyle clothing, and it’s the label that those famous striped mohair sweaters and slashed “Anarchy” and “God Save the Queen” screened t-shirts were born under.  As the legend goes, every Punk visionary to ever walk the streets of Chelsea popped into the shop on a regular basis"

Now for the real dirt on what Simon Easton has allegedly done via WWD. "Malcolm McLaren is worried that fake clothes could be circulating under the Seditionaries label he designed with Vivienne Westwood in the Seventies. The punk impresario alleged that a certain Simon Easton, believed to be based in the United Kingdom, has managed to sell a significant amount of fake Seditionaries designs to unwitting clients, including the likes of artist Damien Hirst, auction houses and museums."

For those looking for even more detailed report on the back and forth in this controversial  issue, be sure to read this post from Haidee Findlay-Levin over at HINT and Jamie’s coverage on Supertouch.
