We may be a little late on this one, but we were waiting on some good shots to come in. The good people at Timzeone fixed that problem. Inspired by the airborne divisions of fighter pilots during WWII, “the BR 01 Airborne reinvents the notion of the talisman, and personifies the very spirit of these outstanding men. Omega cracks the doors open on their new Fifth Avenue store in NYC this past Saturday. The entire Omega collection is available at the new location as well as classic historical pieces from their back catalog. “On display will be the OMEGA Ultra-Thin watch, which was worn by John F. Kennedy during his inaugural address in January of 1961.” Also look for a platinum version of the Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo celebrating 40 years of astronauts wearing the beloved Speedmaster.

This is almost insane. I suspect that at 20,000 feet under water the body would break down before this watch would. “This Swiss Military 20,000 Feet Diver watch was a dream to do just that; create a mechanical watch that can survive just that, 20,000 feet under water. Not just any mechanical watch, but a chronograph, which is harder to keep as water resistant…The whole watch is 28.5mm thick and 46mm wide. Timezone turns us onto some jet turbine inspired watches from Perrelet. The 44mm face watches are equipped  with “Perrelet P-181 automatic Double Rotor movement with 21 jewels and a power reserve of 42 hours. The double rotor, transformed for the occasion into a turbine fitted with 12 blades made of titanium, covers the whole of the dial and slips beneath an interior black raised area, showing luminous numbers. Under the dial, lumed markers accentuate the optical effect.”

A Baselworld killer from Omega in the form of the 2009 Professional Ploprof Diver. The watch made back in the day in conjunction with famous French diver, Jacques Cousteau, comes with a most important “shark proof” bracelet and left side screw crown. Now that’s protection. Le Mans baby! Here’s a banger from Baselworld 2009. TAG Heuer is celebrating 40 years of the Monaco model with this Twenty Four Concept Chronograph Anniversary piece. The square face is a simple killer. “The large-faced, black-textured dial bears an oversize “24″ at 12 o’clock, in honour of the 24 of Le Mans, and the iconic blue and orange livery of Gulf Oil – the same colours TAG Heuer Ambassador Steve McQueen wore in his 1970 film classic, Le Mans.” Provide, please. (via timezone)

The X-Mach watch from Hamilton measures mach speeds. Period. Not much else you need from a watch, right? It does so by calibrating the pressure altitude (PA) and air speed (CAS). I guess it goes more based on their description, “This transforms the timepiece into a stunning portable Machmeter. Zurich’s Maurice de Mauriac Watch line drops a new collection at Baselworld 2009 – the “Automatic Modern” Collection. “The newest [watch] creations of highest precision feature sapphire glass that is non-reflecting on both sides as well as black or white diamonds. The prestigious chronometers are equipped with a mechanic-automatic movement and encased with replaceable red gold, white gold, or black bezels. ”
