Some serious bangers from the Concord line as seen at Baselword 2011. “The new C2 collection has a similar hexagonal case shape, to the original C1, but with a substantially thinner case (at 12.75 mm versus 16.7 mm on the C1). The C2 is a more accessible than the C1 line, with prices starting just under six thousand dollars.” The C2 features a 43mm casing and optional PVD coatings, for those who are asking… (pw)

Some excellent news for fans of classic BRAUN utilitarian items. It looks as though BRAUN watches and alarm clocks are coming back to U.S. shores. Some notes from the press release give a bit more info: “Braun’s decision to re-issue its collection, including some of the LCD watches from the 1970s, met with the approval of Dietrich Lubs, co-designer with Dieter Rams. Lubs credits the watches’ independent and functionally-oriented designs for the continued relevance of the Braun timepiece collection, about thirty years after its initial introduction.” Various styles available now from Amazon.

Luckily, Linde Werdelin have included two ‘making of’ features, which buck the trend of most making of features in that they’re actually interesting. Set for release in Autumn 2011, the MB-1 and MB-2 are the first watches designed by Michael Bastian for GANT. Each will be produced in a limited edition of 1949 – referencing the year of Gant’s corporate birth – and comes with two strap options.

The watches will launch at Barney’s and retail at $395.
