For a nice and relaxed weekend look, we propose the new Multi Plaid Cotton Shirt from the Woolrich Woolen Mills Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection. With Mark McNairy being the creative director of Woolrich Woolen Mills, it comes with no surprise that the brand has been paying a little more attention to their footwear in recent seasons. For Autumn/Winter 2011 they have just released the new Para Boot.

The derby brogue boots feature a mix of pebble leather and melton wool on the upper, with the outcome being simply beautiful. We would call it an outdoor chic look, perfectly fusing the look of a classic Made in England boot with a rougher outdoor look. Nitty Gritty has them in stock now.

McNairy’s second season as designer for the Woolrich Woolen Mills collection is solid collection that revolves around Hemingway inspired safari’s and the 60’s television program, “The Rat Patrol.” Printed shirts, ties, scarves and even the inclusion of khaki suiting offer up a take on the past without remaining too stuck there. The colors in the patterned garments are wonderful.

Main collection aside, the thing we spotted from the Woolen Mills stand was these desert boots. Available in sand, navy and olive green, they look like, you know, a pair of desert boots. That is, until you spot the small vent, which we haven’t noticed on any of McNairy’s shoes before.

Before we take a full look at the Woolrich Wollen Mills collection for Spring/Summer 2012, we peek at a pair of camo espadrilles that are part of a small footwear offering that will complement the clothing. What you see is what you get with these: camo fabric on the classic jute sole.

His first season is a splendid one and we applaud the inclusion of some wool truckers. To this writer, they never went away. As you all know by now, this is the last collection of Woolrich Woolen Mills designed by Daiki Suzuki. So, depending on your view of McNairy’s collection, this is either your last chance to get hold of WWM while you still like it or just another season. Either way, we like this vest. It’s still a little early to be going coatless, so lighten up the layers with a piece like this. (End)

Daiki Suzuki’s final collection for Woolrich Woolen Mills celebrates “a bygone era in outdoor clothing when simplicity reigned king.” Many of his inspirations lie in the fashions and styles of outdoor brands from the 1950s-1980s. The jacket is made in the U.S.A. from a cotton/poly mix. The jacket offers: inner faced pocket flaps in cotton twill with button look closure, cotton pull cords, covered button center front placket and a game pocket on the back panel. The standard visor hood is always a plus on vintage styled jackets. It’s available at Unionmade.
