Selectism - Workers "Reliance" Work Shirts

Now, they’re not directly titled “Milton F. Goodman” shirts but a quick Google Books query did direct me at the man and company behind the latest collection of  thread perfect interpretations of the classic work shirts from Workers Japan. Google Books is incredible to say the least. Here’s the link to an old article from around 1922 discussing how the Reliance company, which Milton F. Goodman ran and operated targeting “farmer” accounts. Fascinating.

In the meantime, Workers will put their versions of the Reliance shirts on sale on Sept. 10. The quality of these garments will be impeccable as usual. Expect some slight refinements from the originals.

The minds behind Workers in Japan are obsessed with pure replication (down to the stitch) of quality garments from a time past. Workers Japan digs through the K & T H MFG Co. and discovers this great “Lot32 Shirt, Closed Front.” A gem from workwear of the past, Workers gets all the details right from the original, hitting every detail down to the last stitch. A very limited run of these were made available to the public due to the fabric run. I would hate to have to find a substitute to the Workers’ “real” thing.

Workers Japan can do no wrong. Their latest is the Lot10 Sheep Collar Coat from K & T H MFG Co. An absolute beauty. Everything inch of this coat is a true repro from the original sold in the Montgomery Ward Catalog back in 1928-29. N-1 deck fabric on the outershell, re-inforced cornering on all pockets with leather… the detailed listing is long. Wondering how they got it so right? Check Workers step-by-step build on the Lot10 Sheep Collar Coat. Demandingly precise.

Selectism - Workers Japan and the Art of Workwear

A Continuous Lean targets their latest obsession with workwear towards the Japanese brand Workers (thanks to the help of some friends of course). "Workers gathers vintage pieces of American workwear, then meticulously reproduces the garments to nearly perfect replicas. It even goes so far as to document the production process, ensuring the clothing is made as it should be. The company releases the items one at a time and nearly everything sells out…"
