Looking for some hard-working moccasins? If so, Yuketen wants to show you their state forest ranger-inspired take in a coarse-grain tobacco with a thick SBR sole. Clean and handsome things for those who are inclined to rock a heavier shoe that will stay in rotation for decades (at least).

Not unlike the Red Wing Heritage 4514 oxfords for J. Crew that we showed you earlier this month, these are dad-chic. We sense that is part of the point, of course. Dads get shit done (good ones do, anyway) and you could haul your whole base camp up a burning mountain in these with a kid on each arm. Probably good for trips to the grocery store, too. What Yuketen don’t know about hand-finished leather shoes isn’t worth knowing. If ever a footwear company could be classed a safe bet it’s Yuki Matsuda and Co. What is so refreshing about the brand is its willingness to take risks. They could churn out tough moccasins and chunky soled boat shoes season after season whilst comfortably retaining their stellar reputation. However they opt to take a few risks each outing alongside those returning classics. Risky colourways, off-beat shapes, snakeskin and some controversial use of brogueing here and there. Fair play.

White vibram sole? That’s old news. It’s all about the black ripple sole these days. We like the ripple for two reasons (a) the white vibram sole has been done to death and (b) this can handle a bit of snow, unlike its white counterpart. And it’s on sale. What more could you want? (Superdenim)

LN-CC present some Autumn Winter action from Yuketen. The American-Japanese company continues to offer some incredible hard-wearing footwear for those who like their shoes as far away from slim and sleek as possible.

Vibram lives on, joined by the zig-zag sole for anyone averse to that bright white grip. The leopard print boat shoe is loud, proud but somehow doesn’t make us think of Joan Collins. Of course the usual styles continue with work boot, moccasin and hunting shoe inspired creations.

Another Christmas list idea. Start throwing out those hints now, this fob is 100% cordovan goodness. We’re not sure what the leather equivalent of the denim Texas Tuxedo is, but if you want to make a full on luxury hide statement match this to your Cordovan shoes and belt and let the sweet times roll. A Yuketen badge on one side and a Horween leather stamp on the other, Norse Store has them.

Sundays are always a good day for reflecting on current collection. Here’s a look at a few of the many shoes and boots found in the Yuketen Autumn/Winter 2011 collection.  The leopard print ranger shoe, shown above, is one of the more unique looks from the collection. The crepe sole works against the leather quarter panels well, but we do wonder on the longevity of this look over time. Then again, fashion is seasonal; you can always move onto another pair. Dig through the looks for shades of mocassins, chukka boots and many others.

Our admiration for Mr Matsuda’s work at Yuketen is no secret. A label that seems to get it right time after time, this offering over at Coggles is another in a long line of satisfyingly chunky shoes. The Country Ranger deck shoe is a substantial pice of footwear. Crepe sole, leather laces, two tone suede and all contructed using handmade moccasin techniques. The stitching once again the star of the show.

Yuketen really know their way around a piece of leather. They’ve chosen deerskin for this one and in doing so have created a tote so soft you’ll want to carry it gently pressed up against your face. This really is quite the looker, reinforced leather base, sturdy handles, buckle top and cotton lining. Oi Polloi assure us this comes with that new leather bag smell at no extra cost.
