The snobs discuss this “athletic inspired” Yuketen boat shoe. Oi Polloi has stock on this very classic take on the “english bag.” “Made in the USA from the the very highest quality American leather, which won’t bleed onto your clothing but will pick up nicks and scratches to give a beautiful, natural, ‘aged’ look. With hand-pounded/ sanded copper rivets and an added backside pocket on the backside body of the bag (useful for plane/ train tickets or other important documents that must be accessed readily without fussing with the bag’s flap).” Looks great.

These excellent shoes from Yuketen are based on a 1940’s milspec oxfords. The outer, sole, and heel are finished in a clean black while the liner is made from calf skin keeping it soft around the edges. Made to the original spec, these shoes can be found in Yuketen’s Autumn/Winter 09 collection. These should be available outside of Japan. Check around. (arks)

Yuketen shows their forthcoming Spring 2010 footwear at (capsule) NY this week. The collection is massive and remains made in the USA. We showcase a variety of looks from their collection below, including the deckers seen above (which should make some trenders happy).  A variety of new looks mixed into the old. We’ll look at their bags and accessories coming tomorrow.

Here’s a exclusive seen at the Nigel Cabourn booth at Bread & Butter Berlin. Mr. Cabourn called upon footwear maker, Yuketen for a Japan only release. Using the Yuketen Hunting Boot, Cabourn outfits the silhouette with military grade fabrics which are spec’d from WWII materials. The outcome is a solid built shoe which we in the West may never be able to get our hands on. Nevertheless, we love it.

Japan’s Honeyee Magazine this month is highlighting Yuki Matsuda, Yuketen Footwear line. Founded in 1995, Yuketen creates footwear based around the American cobbler craft. Working with the very popular boat and oxford forms, Yuketen is a contender we hope to see more outside of Japan and Europe.
